Are We There Yet?

We made it to the middle of week 11. Boredom and brain fatigue are starting to creep in. My training runs are not as fun as they were a few weeks ago. UGH I’m sticking as closely to the plan as I can muster but it’s been a struggle. I figure these ups and downs are normal. At the same time, I’m getting really excited for SeaWheeze which is a little over 2 weeks away. EEEP!

I skipped my recovery run last Sunday (end of week 9). Week 10, I ran on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday mornings.

Neon PC Runner socks and Hoka One One Clifton.ย

I took my new Hoka Clifton out for a spin. They were springy and super light. The sole is a little thicker than I’m used to which caused me to scuff the bottoms here and there. Not a big deal. I was just happy I didn’t trip and fall. I thought my PRO Compression neon PC Runner socks went well with the bright Hokas. ๐Ÿ˜€ By the way, if you’re looking for a good, low profile running sock, these are great. No slipping, sliding or disappearing into your shoe. PRO Compression also makes my favorite compression sleeve. I think I’ve posted about them before but they’re just so convenient to wear around with flip flops.

Friday, 7/24/15: 4 miles (45:59).

Early Friday morning. 4 miles.

Early Friday morning. 4 miles.

I took a last minute day off and went over to my mom’s to help her with some bathroom updates she was having done. As payment, she made lunch. ๐Ÿ˜› Korean dumpling soup or Su Je Bi. One of my favorite dishes of all time. Mouth scorching jalapeno slices are mandatory. YUM!

Saturday, 7/25/15:

Faster than last Saturday! Weeeee!!!

Faster than last Saturday! Weeeee!!!

Saturday.

Saturday.

Saturday’s 9 miles came and went. Two miles in, I was a little skeptical about being able to finish. My right foot was still giving me grief and my head wasn’t in it. But somehow, I kept plugging along and telling myself to go another mile. It got easier once I hit the halfway point but overall not a good day. I was surprised to see that my time was about 8 minutes quicker than last Saturday. Unexpected for sure.

The remainder of my weekend was rest, relaxation, homemade guacamole and spending time with Jon. Boo had to get in his snuggle time too.

Hamming it up for tummy rubs.

Hamming it up for Jon to get more tummy rubs. Say, “CHEESE!”

More human than a human.

That’s all I’ve got this time around. The next time I post will most likely be RIGHT before SeaWheeze weekend! WOOOOO HOOOO!!! Let the madness begin!!!

Until next time, thanks for reading!

8 days until the BIG day!

I’m amazed by how quickly the days are flying by but also by how SLOWLY my work days are passing. LOL It will take every ounce of focus in my pea brain to stay productive next week. I just have to hang tough until next Friday. Then, Jon and I will be buzzing our way to Lihue! WOOOO HOOOO!!! I’ve got a “MUST TRY” list that’s ridiculous! Just a few places on my list: http://kauaijuiceco.com/ (so stoked to try Best Breakfast!), Aloha Aina Juice Bar http://www.yelp.com/biz/aloha-aina-juice-bar-koloa (excited to try my first ever aรงai bowl) and http://www.thefreshshave.com/ (shave ice). I’ve heard a lot of good things about Josselin’s Tapas Bar so we’ll hopefully have time to check it out.

Jon and I went to the track at the high school next door for a short run. Jon mentioned the students built a community garden on campus with loads of vegetables ready for picking. When he met with the school principal last week, she told him the vegetables were free for the picking. Since I didn’t have a bag, I just sampled a cherry tomato. YUM, fresh garden veggies. NOM.

Nice pose. So cheesy.

The students did a great job! Rhubarb is a beautiful thing…just sayin’. ๐Ÿ˜€ Too bad I didn’t get a pic. Derp.

The garden was pretty awesome! Ignore my big ole head.

I know I’ve already said this but I’m claiming senility. I’m going into this marathon with positive thoughts which is difficult since I’m a “realist”. haha I’m going to enjoy every bit of wildlife and tropical scenery on the course. I’m hoping to see and meet the locals in the neighborhoods we run through and I REALLY hope their dogs and puppies are spectating with them. ๐Ÿ˜€ I โค dogs! I’ll be taking many, many photos along the way. Unless, of course, I’m passed out in a ditch somewhere delirious from heat, humidity and dehydration. I keed, I keed.

Until next time, thanks for reading!ย

74 more.

OMG, two and a half months until the half marathon. Eeeep! I reluctantly went for a two mile walk/jog yesterday. *knock* *knock* “Is Motivation there?” *crickets*

At least I remembered to take a photo of my lunch. I picked up some Path of Life sauteed quinoa and kale pouches at Costco. They’re seasoned with garlic, olive oil and salt. Each pouch contains two servings and is pretty filling. I ate both 150 calorie servings. LOL They make for a quick and easy meal. As far as taste, they were good but a bit bland so I’d suggest adding some hot sauce for a little kick.

To celebrate getting into the Star Wars Rebel Challenge, I got myself a pair of Vans Star Wars slip ons. They were delivered today and I LOVE THEM! WOOT! Why do my ankles look sort of grubby? I swear I took a shower…yesterday. ๐Ÿ˜›

A New Hope

I keed, I keed. That’s all I’ve got. Until next time, I’ll leave you with this.

Stay weird.

76!

Oh, so senile! I forgot to post my workout last Thursday. Derp. I ran 3.3 miles on a treadmill. I wasn’t feeling it and tried to stop at 2.5 but my awesomely motivating friend made me keep going. I haven’t run since Thursday. My training plan hasn’t been going as planned.

Last night, we took my dad out to Outback Steakhouse for an early Father’s Day dinner. I haven’t eaten there in ages. It was surprisingly good! I ordered the 10 oz rib eye with a baked sweet potato smothered in butter and brown sugar. ZOMG! I couldn’t finish the steak. I took some scraps home for Boo. His tummy is so sensitive, we should’ve known better. I gave him a piece the size of a gumball and he already has horrendous gas. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

My goals for this week: get in 3 runs, remember to take photos of my running OOTDs, plan my meals and lose a pound (or two, ugh).ย  I should probably stay away from things like this:

Watermelon Hunch Punch

But it was good going down. LOL Happy Father’s day and have a good week!
