Got out for a short run to test out my new CEP Arm Coolers. Other than the fact that my upper arms are too big for the bicep bands, I like them a lot. It’s really hard to describe the cooling sensation when you have them on. They’re super lightweight and the fabric is thin. It wasn’t very hot out today, around 68° with a light breeze. I’ll try these again on a warmer day. I want to spritz them with some water to really give them a good run. One of the listed features is “cool-cell moisture activated skin cooling technology” which is a fancy way to say sweat-activated. LOL I’m very curious to see how they do in hot weather. I read an online review mentioning they’re perfect for hot, humid climates (Hello, Kauai?!?). So if these are as “cool” as they’re supposed to be, they’ll be on my arms for The Kauai half marathon. Sorry for the terrible pun. Here’s a link to my CEP Arm Coolers unboxing video: http://youtu.be/8T85vx-bDws
And a “before run” pic:
I have 11s on my face because I scowl…a lot.
Finally, a “glamour shot” that makes me look thinner than I really am. I love these deceptive angled photos. ha!
Does this lululemon top make my butt look big?

The days are breezing by and my training is at a stand still. I’ve been out for short runs but still nothing over 3 miles. It’ll happen…or maybe it won’t. I have the power to change it. *self pep talk* haha This post is pretty much a photo dump since I don’t have much in the way of running to talk about.
Here are some snacks I’ve been enjoying lately. My husband stumbled on these UGo bars while browsing youtube videos. They’re amazing! They come in two flavors, Anutter-Sweet & Salty and Ultra-Cherry Cacao. Anutter was our favorite. It’s chewy, crunchy, sweet and salty. Jam-packed with peanuts, almonds and raisins. So delicious! I wasn’t a fan of the cinnamon used in the Ultra but it was still good. The cacao bits add a bit of chocolatey lusciousness to the bar. YUM
These Kirkland Seasoned Seaweed snacks are low call with a kick of salt. At 20 calories per serving they sort of quell my craving for chips. Sort of.
My kingdom for a bowl of steaming sticky rice.
Finally, seedless red grapes. EAT ALL OF THE SUGAR!
We went to a nearby trail for a quick run and found a tranquil little spot to defrazzle. It was awesome. I love, love, love animals! Like creepy-animal-lady, love. So many baby cows. ❤
Boo and my caboose
We had a new refrigerator delivered this weekend because our old fridge was dying a slow, pitiful death. We went with stainless steel. EEEP! NO FINGERS ON THE FRIDGE PLEASE! I have no idea how to keep this thing clean. I dislike the smell of vinegar (as a cleaning solution) immensely. Oddly enough, I love to eat vinegar. haha
Staples: eggs, sriracha and fancy beer, usually stouts.
Work was totally unproductive today. Too many meetings and not enough focus. LOL BUT I got a free lunch so I can’t complain.
Simply Panini Cali Chicken Press
My husband’s ankle has been giving him grief the last few times he’s tried to run. After being fitted for running shoes and trying out a few different brands, he’s still having pain. Blah! We went for a short run today so he could track when and where the pain starts. Hopefully he’ll get some answers from his MD who might refer him to a sports medicine clinic if this doesn’t resolve. We walked for a half mile to warm-up, ran 1.75 and then walked a quarter mile cooldown. I tested out my Lululemon Pacesetter Skirt to see if I would have chafing issues. I used a bit of BodyGlide as a preemptive measure. TTP! (thigh touching problems) I’m happy to report, no issues! I’m guessing the skirt will be fine for 6 miles or less.

Boo pic o’ the day. Boo’s best impression of Squidward.
OMG, two and a half months until the half marathon. Eeeep! I reluctantly went for a two mile walk/jog yesterday. *knock* *knock* “Is Motivation there?” *crickets*
At least I remembered to take a photo of my lunch. I picked up some Path of Life sauteed quinoa and kale pouches at Costco. They’re seasoned with garlic, olive oil and salt. Each pouch contains two servings and is pretty filling. I ate both 150 calorie servings. LOL They make for a quick and easy meal. As far as taste, they were good but a bit bland so I’d suggest adding some hot sauce for a little kick.
To celebrate getting into the Star Wars Rebel Challenge, I got myself a pair of Vans Star Wars slip ons. They were delivered today and I LOVE THEM! WOOT! Why do my ankles look sort of grubby? I swear I took a shower…yesterday. 😛
A New Hope
I keed, I keed. That’s all I’ve got. Until next time, I’ll leave you with this.
Oh, so senile! I forgot to post my workout last Thursday. Derp. I ran 3.3 miles on a treadmill. I wasn’t feeling it and tried to stop at 2.5 but my awesomely motivating friend made me keep going. I haven’t run since Thursday. My training plan hasn’t been going as planned.
Last night, we took my dad out to Outback Steakhouse for an early Father’s Day dinner. I haven’t eaten there in ages. It was surprisingly good! I ordered the 10 oz rib eye with a baked sweet potato smothered in butter and brown sugar. ZOMG! I couldn’t finish the steak. I took some scraps home for Boo. His tummy is so sensitive, we should’ve known better. I gave him a piece the size of a gumball and he already has horrendous gas. 😦
My goals for this week: get in 3 runs, remember to take photos of my running OOTDs, plan my meals and lose a pound (or two, ugh). I should probably stay away from things like this:
Watermelon Hunch Punch
But it was good going down. LOL Happy Father’s day and have a good week!
I took a last minute day off from work today. The dog and I went for a 3.1 mile run and the weather was perfect, overcast with a light breeze. As soon as we got home, the sun came out. Perfect, I tell ya! I’m a wimp and have all sorts of trouble (in my brain) trying to run when it’s hot out. The Kauai half marathon probably wasn’t the smartest choice for a wimpy runner but I’M UP FOR THE CHALLENGE MOTHER NATURE! *shakes fist*
And because I’m a glutton for punishment, I’ve signed my husband and myself up for the Disney Star Wars Rebel Challenge! Happening in January. We’ll be attempting a 10K on Saturday and half marathon on Sunday. I was a stressed out mess this morning when registration opened up. I’ve heard their races sell out in minutes. After some minor hiccups with the runDisney site, I was able to get us both registered. Adrenaline! WOOT! So my training continues after Kauai. So excited!
As for my pics, I tried taking an outfit of the day (OOTD) pic but the sun was in my eyes and I looked really, really angry. hahaha Ugh! So, here are my feet. On the coffee table. Need to declutter.
And a bonus Boo pic. He likes to air out his junk. Laugh it up, fuzzball.
I attended a Moving Comfort sports bra fitting event at The Balanced Athlete tonight. I was kind of surprised to find I’m actually wearing the correct size. LOL I hauled some goodies: black Fiona bra, purple Adidas Climachill tee, Balega Ultra Light No Show socks and watermelon GU Chomps. Also picked up a Pro-Tec Athletics Ice Up for my husband because I’m a nice wife…sometimes.
They had a nice spread with bruschetta, chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon provided by Vino at the Landing and delicious chocolates from Sweet Decadence Chocolates (the Aztec Spicy truffle was especially good). I tried a sip of the chardonnay and I’m just not a fan of wine. I’ll take a pint of oatmeal stout over wine any old day. I also enjoyed a free massage from the fabulous Donna Johnson, LMP of Paragon Massage and Wellness. This made for a great Friday evening. Tomorrow, I run. Eeep!
